Who has congenital glaucoma and have you lead productive lives? |
Who has congenital glaucoma and have you lead productive lives? My dad has it. He was diagnosed when I was a young teenager. He did everything a normal dad does. He was a nurse, and nothing changed with that. He did have to give up being an EMT. They wouldn't let him drive the ambulance once he was diagnosed. He was able to take us camping, teach us to drive, embarrass his kids, and everything else a dad would do. He is partially blind. As long as he keeps putting in his eye drops, and going to his appointments, he is able to keep the disease in check. He still drives, and does all his hobbies that he loves. Because he was diagnosed at such a young age (he was in his early 40's) I have to make sure I go for regular eye checks (it's hereditary). well mine is not congenital but i've had it since i was 11 years old and i'm now 22. having glaucoma doesn't affect my life hardly at all. |

Joseph, If I were you I would go to the correct Dr that is trained to make sure you have no vision problems. I am quite sure that Medicare will pay a portion but how much is your vision worth??... It is uncommon for someone so young to get glaucoma, but it certainly can and does happen to some people. My cousin had it when she was 25. My mother, my 3 aunts, and lots of other cousins along ...
