Glaucoma. Eye health. I'm 19...?

Both of my parents have glaucoma (I believe acute). I bought new glasses recently, and the eye doctor there briefly examined my eyes. He told me my optic nerves are enlarged and said that since both of my parents have glaucoma I really need to get to an eye doctor, especially one who specializes in glaucoma.

I don't have insurance right now, so I can't. I'm not really experiencing any symptoms... (I once had an excruciating eye ache/head ache, but that was like a year ago and a very isolated incident.)

Do you think I could be causing much damage by not being treated if I do have glaucoma?

Also, my mom used to have green eyes, but her glaucoma medication turned her eyes brown. I have blue/green eyes and I really do not want them to change...if i had glaucoma with no pain and I didn't get treated what would happen?

Glaucoma is known as the silent thief. It steals your vision slowly so your don't notice until much has been lost forever and generally has no other symptoms. You'd be crazy not to have this checked out. Brown eyes beats a white cane any day.
