I have been told i have signs of glaucoma by my optician and have been referred to the hospital for tests.?


If i do have glaucoma i have been told i will have to use drops every day for the rest of my life, does this mean that if i DONT use the drops i would certainly go blind ?

Once you have been diagnosed with GLAUCOMA, this will stay with you for the rest of your life. Like several other diseases (hypertension, diabetes, etc) there is NO CURE of glaucoma. There is no medical or surgical treatment that will REMOVE the glaucoma, but there are medical and surgical treatments (including LASER treatment) to CONTROL the disease process.

Untreated glaucoma will inevitably lead to irreversible blindness, but with proper treatment, the possibility of blindness can be prevented.

Whether medical or surgical treatment is required to control glaucoma is best determined after you are properly evaluated by an ophthalmologist.

Please see an ophthalmologist first before worrying about having glaucoma. For all you know, you might not have it, and you would have been worrying over nothing. Source(s): I am an ophthalmologist.

Sometimes with glaucoma you can have an operation which will clear the problem x
it is very impt to adhere to the doctor as regards glaucoma because any slipup could send you down hill so pliz use the medication eyesight is something you cant take for granted if u have any questions as regards the drops or you dont like them for a particular reason its better you tell hi about it rather than stop
Please dont worry, this is the worse case scenareo. There are other possibilities for treatment. The eye drops are to treat occular pressure. However laser surgery can be done also. Luckily, you have been diagnosed quickly and so treatments can start before any serious damage has occcured. The hospital will advise you following tests about treatment options. Try not to worry.
My wife had it for 15 yrs
Started smoking pot and in 5 yrs all gone
even had to go get tested twice to be sure
Bad stuff drops didn't do much for wife
Lived in Oregon where she had a medical Marijuana card so was legal for her
