Are eyes still reactive to light AND accommodation after Cataract's and Glaucoma surgery?

I know there are different types of Cataract's, Glaucoma, and surgeries for the two, but I'd just like to know (in general) if eyes remain reactive to light and accommodation after surgeries to correct this OR if it's on a person to person basis... o.0

Thanks. =)

Pupil reactions will normally be normal, after both surgeries, though there is a small risk of having fixed or irregularly shaped pupils.
The retina wouls still retain its light-adaptive properties.

Accommodation is not preserved in cataract surger, but it does give an opportunity for re-setting the base Rx to near zero, or to near a reading Rx without glasses if that is preferred.
This is complicated somewhat as there are different types of bifocal implants that can be used during cataract surgery to attempt to preserve accommodation.
One is actually claimed to move, flex, in the eye as the natural lens did, and the others contains zones of different power for different distances.
There is some question as to whether the first is currently effective, and the second method has issues with glare, and loss of contrast causing problems in some people.
However, just as with bifocal contact lenses, there are those who consider the added flexibility a benefit that outweighs any potential drawbacks.
As usual, those promoting the products stress the positive, and searching the internet produces tales of both happy and upset people.

As a very high myope I'm considering having my lenses removed when I've lost a bit more acommodation, say in four years time, simply to get my Rx down.
But at the moment my personal judgement is *not* to get multifocal implants.
