How did I contract gonorrhea but my partner didn't?

I've been with the same partner for 3 years and 8 months. This is the only person I've slept with in that time. About two weeks ago I had severe burning and a penis discharge. Come to find out I had gonorrhea.

I was extremely upset and blamed my partner because I knew I had not slept with anyone else. However, I've just been informed that his tests came back clean. Now, the role has reversed and he believes I've cheated on him when I obviously know for a fact that I haven't.

How is this possible? How could I contract gonorrhea by having sex with someone who doesn't have it? Could I have contracted it from a toilet or something else?

Well, I know for a fact that he cheated on me a in 2007 but could gonorrhea possibly be dormant that long?

Some men with gonorrhea may have no symptoms at all. However, some men have signs or symptoms that appear two to five days after infection; symptoms can take as long as 30 days to appear.
Gonorrhea is spread through contact with the penis, vagina, mouth, or anus. Ejaculation does not have to occur for gonorrhea to be transmitted or acquired.

Are you absolutely sure he had the proper tests?
As it states a man may have no symptoms and as the bacteria does not survive exposed to the air. Away from a moist surface, they can live only briefly. They cannot survive on or be transmitted from inanimate objects. It is not unusual for men to have asymptomatic gonorrhea.

You both need to see your doctor(s) to sort this out.

If you are at risk for this by obviously having unprotected sex with someone that is not fully committed to you, then you are putting yourself at risk for HIV also. You need to use protection, and find a faithful partner.
I'm sure he has it also and probably has a false negative test. He needs to be retested and treated. You cannot get STDs from toilet seats, doorknobs, or anywhere else like that.

he is lying to you. there is no way that you could have gotten it other than through sex. did you see the test results? and by the way if he shows you a negative test results sheet it could be the one they preform after treatment, meaning that after you finish taking the medicine when you are diagnosed they test you again to make sure you are clean.

no he does have it but he is a carrier most of the time that is how it works they body is immune to it and that is the best way to tell who gave it to you you need to find out who he has slept with and out on a beat down...lol and the only way you can get that is but physical touch only from a human can you contract it

o no!! if u didn't cheat then ur partner is pulling a fast one on u.maybe he/she got the std got treated and was scared to tell u.

hun if u never cheated & never was with any one else your partner has to be the one that cheated!Hes trying to blame u so he looks less guilty!

he's blaming you because he cheated. don't fall for it

You're asking the wrong question. The question you should be asking yourself is - why am I still with this guy. Here are the facts I have gathered from the information you have provided. 1. Since you have been with him, you have contracted gonorrhea. 2. He has cheated on you.
Now to look at the first fact. If miraculous conception is possible then maybe miraculous contraction is possible too. Then in that case, he's just bad luck. But I think everyone knows he gave it to you. The second fact, you should have tossed him when you first found out he cheated on you. I'm assuming from what you have written, you have not cheated on him causing him to cheat on you.
The answer to the question you should've asked:
Get rid of him
Get treated for the STD
Problem solved
