Could a strep test detect gonorrhea?

Definitely definitely not. They are completely different tests.
This test screens for the group A streptococcus organism only and will not detect other causes of sore throat.
The growth of certain organisms such as group A beta-hemolytic streptococci (which causes strep throat) as well as other organisms which cause diphtheria and gonorrhea is abnormal and may indicate infection
....yes it can detect gonorrhea...
No, the strept test only tests for Streptoccus Pyrogenes, the cause of Strept throat. The test consist of taking a cotton swap and wiping the back of the throat and the two tonsils. The reagent is added and a color change is indicative of Strept. Purple's answer is not correct. The cause of gonorrhea is the organism Neisseria Gonorrhoeae. N. Gonorrhoeae is localized to the genitals or, in the case of oral sex, can be found in the pharynx. The test for Gonorrhoeae requires taking a sample of the discharge and culturing it. This is the gold standard but; there are new ways to detect the bacteria. Other methods include: ELISA, DNA probe or a NAAT. The treatment is a one time does of antiboitics doxycycline
