Why can't they find a cure for HIV/AIDS? |
what are the difficulties of finding such a cure, and is there any progress in that direction? HIV is very difficult to cure because it is a virus that mutates the body, one cell infects another that infects more until the entire body is infected. Because of that, a vaccine would be more probable. The reason a vaccine has not been created is because there are hundreds of strands of the virus, similar to the common cold, and making a vaccine for every different strand would be very difficult. Recently I had the chance to talk to a brilliant doctor at Yale Med who is working on the cure, and he explained that they were close, but not close enough. The advancement we have made on a cure since the 70's have been astounding and I am expecting to see a cure or vaccine in the next 10 years. Also, Hiv/Aids attacks the bodies immune system, making anyone who has the virus succeptable to almost any bacteria or virus, even the ones in our own mouth. Finding treatment for hiv/aids would also have to have minimal side effects due to the lack of an immune system. well there used to be no hope at all once upon a time, but now at least there is treatment that prolongs the life span apposed to just a few years. The government agencies, the food industry, the drug industry, and many media outlets are trying to suppress truthful information about alternative cures for an economic/ losing profit / reason. One of the major factors is because the health-care industry would lose a mass of money and that's the truth! The health-care companies are for profit and if they have no one to treat money is lost. Sorry to say but that is the problem with the current health-care system. Companies are more concerned with profit then people's lives! While the treatment drugs have gotten better, there is no cure because the HIV is a virus that is always mutating. It's always changing and that's why they can't make a vaccine or definitive treatment for it. It is the changing subtypes of HIV itself that resist finding a catch-all vaccine for all HIVs! cause nobody likes gay people |
