Question about hiv and lip piercing? |
i have just done a lip piercing, if my friend talk to me and he have hiv and he have blood in his saliva and the saliva touch my lip on that pierceing will i get hiv? and when i pierce i have blood that drips on the floor i just clean it up with some tissue with water. if i got hiv will my parents get hiv when they accidentally step on the floor with their cuts on their leg. There are very small amounts of HIV in saliva, even on end-stage AIDS patients. For your own peace of mind, get tested for HIV-1/HIV-2 within 30 days of this incident, and again in 6 months. HIV is an enveloped virus. This means that in air, it is very easily denatured(or "killed"). The risk that you contracted the disease is somewhat unlikely, but I recommend that you get tested in a couple of months. Depends if the salivia got into your mouth. How long ago was this exactly? Go to wikipedia and look up the symptoms (Ie fever, vomitting, thrush, headaches etc which can last up to a month) and if you get them then you should go to the doctor |
