If a police officer were to get HIV, would he/she be immediately be placed on disability?

If a police officer were to get HIV, would he/she be immediately be placed on disability?

If a police officer was to get HIV, it would be protected under HIPPA laws and the employer would not know unless the exposure happened on duty.

The officer would then continue to work until he is physically unable to do so.

As long as the officer can still perform their duties and pass physical tests, they cannot be forced to take leave. It would be discrimination to do such.

If they got it on the job ..yea

But if he got it by sleeping around with whores..not so sure

no, when they can no longer work, then they will

No they can't do that.
