How long does it take for HIV results to come out? |
How long does it take for HIV results to come out? Rapid HIV testing using oral fluids or blood specimens are EIA/ELISA screening tests that provide results in 20 minutes but the results must be confirmed by a Western Blot if the initial result is positive. Results from the commonly used HIV antibody-screening test (ELISA) are not available for one to two weeks. About 2 weeks for the Western Blot. If you are asking how long it takes to get results after you get tested, that depends on the type of testing and the location of the testing. Some places send the testing out to a lab, and it may take 7 days to 2 weeks to get results back. Other places do a rapid test which gives results in less than 30 minutes. From the time of a persons exposure to the virus, it can take up to 12 weeks for signs of it to be detectable in the blood. dont know depends how long the person had had it ... the person cant tell on any test until about 1-3 months after the person contracted it thn they can get an on the spot test that takes about 30 seconds. it takes 12 weeks for a definate answer, the results could be negative if taken to early. if you been from the doctor.. it takes about a week for the results to come back. i think its like 6 weeks |
