Is it possible for a women to have sex with an HIV positive man, and never contract the virus?

My friend's husband died of HIV, and I figured they probably were not sexually active together at the time he got it, but she said they were.
This was 15 years ago, so obviously, she never got it.

I thinks that's amazing.

One time transmission of HIV is not guaranteed to happen. Obviously the more often unprotected intercourse occurs, the more likely the chance of transmission.

So, yes, it's possible that she did not contract HIV. It's definitely high risk though- has she been tested? AIDS Symptoms won't show up for several years in most cases. Even having sex with a an infected person using a condom has risk- the amount of risk would vary depending on various circumstances.

You don't always get sick just because someone sick coughs on you.

You don't always get HIV from having sexual contact with a person with HIV.

In fact, wiki states that receptive penile/vaginal intercourse has a 10/10000 chance of transmission. That's 0.1%!

Well were they using condoms? There could be many variables to this but I think it is rare to continually have sex with someone who has HIV and never contract it.

Yes. Look at Magic Johnson's wife.
