What are three main ideas why a HIV positive person would not have to inform their school or job? |
im writing a MEL-con essay and that is my topic. well they dont want to be judged, mistreated, discriminated..my uncle has HIV and he didnt tell us for 7 years nor did he get treated because he was afraid that someone in our city would see him at the place and gossip..we ended up finding out when he was in the hospital and only had 10 T-cells or i think white blood cells..bbut he's okay now and he's on medicine and my thoughts about him havent changed at all Dear future doctor: Yes there are privacy issues. As a employer, I would rather know then I know what precautions to take and how to hand any emergency. Its just as useful for the person with hiv as it is for someone who doesn't have the virus. If people aren't understanding about this condition, I wouldn't want to work for them. The medical field has come a long way with knowledge for HIV and other std's. I would let the employer know, but, feel its not necessary to tell anyone else. there is a certain stigma associated with people that have HIV because people are uneducated and some still think a person with the virus can look at you and give it to you First the HIPPA law, we all owe the protect confidentiality to our clients. |
