What are the chances of being HIV positive without knowing?

I've read that you can have HIV without knowing about it because it takes a long time for the virus to "activate" into AIDS. I guess I am being a hypochondriac but I'm worried that I could have it. I've only had sex with two long-term girlfriends but when she was younger she had sex with some dirty guy in Scotland she didn't even really know. He was a bit of a sleaze. Is this crazy irrational thinking? It's just a possibility and i'm scared.

Sooo... go get checked out!

It depends on what you did with the girls.

In order for you to be infected you have to have had unprotected sex with a person who is infected. Did you have unprotected sex with the girlfriends? If not, you're fine.

If so, your chances are still very low, but since you don't know for sure it's best to get tested. An HIV test will be accurate enough after 3 months of the exposure.

well it depends the best bet is go get tested , i mean so many people dont know their status so its kind of hard to say the actually precentage of people that can be infected with out knowing so just get tested
