Can HIV be spread through finger hangnail slightly bleeding if I shook hands with someone? |
I am really worried. I shook hands with someone and i had a bleeding hangnail finger. What are the chances of someones contracting HIV in that scenario? I am really worried. Please help! No, there is such a slim chance of contracting the virus in this scenario you might as well say there is no chance. Unless they were bleeding and you rubbed their blood on the hangnail and smeared it around, even then the chances aren't very high. In order to get HIV this way the person you shook hands with must have been infected (incredibly unlikely) and they also must have had an open wound. Then the blood from their open wound would have to get into your open wound. So yeah, you're fine. Basically only if they have an open cut exactly where you put your finger, blood got in the wound and went through their bloodstream. It's possible but extremely unlikely that they would get HIV. Unless the other person had a big ol' open wound and was also bleeding heavily then I think you're both safe. It's possible but pretty unlikely. yes if that person has a open cut near the hand shaking area yes it can but they would need the blood to get inside their body |
