Hi! I want to know what's the life expectation for a person infected with AIDS or HIV Positive?

Hi! I want to know how many years can a person live (HIV or AIDS positive) if it starts taking a medical treatment to fight against the virus? Or what else should I know about this? Thanks!!!

It depends on where you are. If you live in the first world, most patients survive many years following diagnosis because of the availability of the highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART). In the absence of HAART, progression from HIV infection to AIDS occurs at a median of between nine to ten years and the median survival time after developing AIDS is only 9.2 months.HAART dramatically increases the time from diagnosis to death, and treatment research continues.

These days most deaths from AIDS occur in third world, most notably in Africa. Nine out of ten people with AIDS are in the third world with 60 to 70% in sub-Saharan Africa. AIDS has now killed more people than the Black Death making it one of the worst pandemics in human history. There currently is no cure or vaccine for AIDS but research is continuing. Don't have an exact answer but 20 years is common these days. Best advice - wear a rubber.
I don't think AIDS has been around long enough for people to know. For some people it is terminal, but for others it appears to be a managable chronic disease...Either way, don't take chances.
Well, you will have HIV for about 7-10 years... then it will become AIDS, which will cause your death about 5 years later.
