I need to know if it is safe for a man to perform oral sex on an HIV infected partner? |
i have a close friend who is married and contracted HIV in a medical setting. She is wanting to know if her husband wants to perform oral sex on her what is the risk of transmitting the virus to him orally? HIV is transmitted through blood, semen, vaginal secretions...so that means no oral...sorry. Don't think that precautions like "Dental Dams" are worth the risk, they aren't. Since HIV is transmitted through bodily fluids, I don't think they should risk it! If he has even a small cut inside his mouth or on his tongue, he could very easily catch HIV from her. I would say very high because of the saliva and also if he or she has an open wound in the mouth or vaginal area there is definitely a chance that it could happen. Sure, right.....Just how did your friend contact HIV in a medical setting? Why can't she ask the medical setting place that question? Her husband doesn't know she is HIV??? This is just not ringing true to me..Are you sure you are not leaving out part of the story? Not at alll... gonaa have HIV too If he has an open sore inside his mouth, and she transfers any body fluids into that cut/sore, yes there is a very high likelihood that he will, too, contract HIV. He would have to use a condom on his tongue, or if there is something a female can use for protection instead, then he lessens the chances of contracting the disease. Either way, it is unsafe, nut love is still love. If they are married, and love each other, he doesn't need to prove his love and loyalty by lowering his defenses. No need in both of them being ill simultaneously, when one of them needs to be healthy for the other. Do not divorce her, whatever he does. She has a major lawsuit going, if she really did contract the virus in a Medical setting (facility?) They aren't going to like this one bit but: It is difficult for a man to get HIV from a woman. However, repeated exposure as you get when you have a regular sexual partner who is infected puts you at VERY high risk. Realistically, if he doesn't divorce his wife and get rid of her, he WILL become HIV+ himself eventually. No intimate contact is safe....none. The problem here is repeated, low risk exposure. Eventually, your number comes up. This is rather tragic considering the source of his wife's infection. It also illustrates quite clearly why HIV/AIDS cases should be seperated from the rest of society. Quite literally, not doing so has cost your friend's wife her life and probably your friend's life as well. They are probably good people who had the attitude that they shouldn't shun contact with AIDS patients. First of all, most AIDS patients are scum. I know the PC asshole crowd will go nuts hearing that but it is true. We are talking hard core felons, drug addicts, prostitutes and sexual deviants for the most part here. They simply don't deserve the consideration. Second of all, not being rational and clearheaded about the risks involved, results in a horrible death for some people. |
