How long could you be infected with hiv at the very longest without knowing?

How long could you be infected with hiv at the very longest without knowing?

10 years is the answer to your question.

Within a month of contracting the virus you will have flu like symptoms, swollen lymph nodes, and rashes all over your body, though that is not always the case. If you have the virus and you are asymptomatic it is still destroying your immune system. It is important to get tested.
Several years. I'm not sure exactly how many.
Interestingly, 2-6 weeks after infection you may develop a flu-like illness (fever, sore throat, swollen glands) that then goes away. Then you may remain symptom-free for 9-10 years; however, HIV is still multiplying and destroying your immune system for these years. There are instances of people with HIV who never develop AIDS, but they are very rare.
without getting tested years...thats why its so widespread
as long as your immune system is strong and could still fight off those opportunistic infections you could still live without knowing you have it. if you are HIV+ doesnt mean you have AIDS already. AIDS is the terminal stage where you could develop Opportunistic infections such as TB, PCP, candidiasis, etc. testing HIV+ means that you are capable of transmitting it to others. that's why you need to take more care of yourself once result become HIV+.
any communicable diseases book
It will be good if you get yourself tested for HIV 3 months after exposure.
Early treatment of HAART (highly active anti-retroviral drugs) will delay AIDS.
