Can you be an organ donor if you have HPV?

my friend and i were arguing this, he says yes and i say no...what do you think?

He is right. You CAN donate organs if you have HPV. HPV lives in the epithelial cells of the cervix, not in the blood. You have antibodies to it in the blood, but these do not spread the virus. You should also know that over 80% of sexually active people have been exposed to HPV.It is a very common virus and if you have had sex, you probably have "gotten" HPV. Only a few people know they have it, however, because it only causes problems for a few people. The vast majority of people are able to clear the virus on their own before it is detected in a pap smear.
People with HIV, however, cannot be organ donors as that virus lives in the blood and is spread through organs/blood.

Nope!!!!

No even though you are dead the organs remain infected after death

HPV is genital warts - it is a virus that inhabits the genital region.

None of your vital organs are connected to this region, so HPV would not prevent someone from being an organ donor.

Those of you who replied yes should be ashamed of yourselves - stop giving out information you have no clue about.

Besides, there are donors who have given vital organs with hepatitis that transplant recipients knew about and accepted the infected organs. Why, you ask?? Because some people would rather live with hepatitis than die tomorrow waiting for an organ.

Bottom line: If you want to be an organ donor, sign up. The doctors will run the necessary tests, if you ever have the opportunity to donate, and they will be the ones to decide if you're eligible. Not some clueless bozos on yahoo answers.
