If you have HPV(cancer causing) are you at a higher risk for PID ..please answer? |
If you have HPV (the cancer causing strain not the warts strain) are you at a higher risk for PID(pelvic inflamatory disease)? And just how much higher of a risk..could you tell me..if you know that is? I have found one website that tells me you are at a higher risk for PID if you have HPV..(they only talk about warts strain though) ....no other websites do. All the other websites (at least 10) say nothing to the remote effect that you are at higher risk for PID if you have HPV. Is that one website right and the other websites aren't up to date on thier facts... or is that not true? Please answer if you know. I've had it for a while now....I don't have anything else. Due to the HPV I get paps ALOT more than most ever thought about. Thanks though. The warts strains are not the only strains of HPV, there certainly are some that cause cervical cancer. HPV puts you at risk for PID only because they share risk factors. If you have contracted HPV from a partner, you may also have contracted chlamydia or gonorrhea, two of the top causes of PID. HPV itself does not put you at higher risk. PID usually presents as fever and pelvic pain or unusual discharge. If you are concerned about having an STD, go to your doctor or a public health clinic and get tested. I have never heard that HPV puts you at higher risk for PID. And just for your info, the warts strain is the only strain of HPV. I know that it puts you at a higher risk for cervical cancer, but the more normal pap smears you have, the better you are. HPV is what it's called when you have warts on your cervix, after that, it's just genital warts, but still can cause cancer if you have unprotected sex during a flare-up and part of the wart (the virus) is transplanted to your cervix/vagina. When your researching on the internet, be very cautious when you're in .com domains, they are usually commercial and are looking to sell you something (WebMD is a good site for medical info); .gov, .mil, and .org, and .edu are usually good sources of reliable information. I have never heard of HPV turning in to a strain of warts at all but i WOULD LIKE TO HELP BUT i CANT!? |
