Is the HPV shot more painful than most?

My mom set me an appointment to get the HPV shot this Thrusday. She didn't tell me about it because I am very scared of having to get anything medical done...I found out because I happened to find the appointment card she left on the table.
2 of my friends (who are sisters) got their 8th grade shots as well as the 1st HPV shot a few months ago. They both said that the HPV shot was much more painful than any of the other shots they got. They said when the actual shot was going in and circulating through their veins it was excruciating, and their arms hurt for days after. Has anyone else had it, and do you agree that it is more painful than a typical shot? I haven't had shots in over 3 years so I can't really remember how bad they normally are. Any tips to prevent pain or just put my worries to rest? What would getting HPV be like? If you just take a perscription to treat it...that might be better than a shot. What do you think? Please help! Thanks for the answers! Please be nice.

By the way, where is it given? I know it's in the arm, but my friends said it is given very high up and feels like it's hitting the bone. Is that true?

I am also in the process of getting the HPV vaccine. I DO NOT think the HPV shot is any more painful then any other shot. I did not have any pain other then a slight stinging sensation when they injected me. They do administer the shot in your upper arm, just like the flu shot. I have not had any pain at all. Just stay totally relaxed and stay completely calm, don't worry about it or work yourself up over it. I wouldn't get any other shots that same day if you can avoid it. The benefits far out way the slight 5 second discomfort. You can do it!

I just had my second HPV shot last month and it was pretty painful. My arm was sre for like a week after. But the first shot did not hurt as much. It hurt for like a day. Some girls and women say it hurts a lot, others say it hurts a little. Depends on your tolerance for pain and how you deal with needles.

Try relaxing when you get the shot and looking away when they poke you. I wasnt as relaxed with my 2nd shot because I had to get three other shots that day!

Also, it should not feel like its hitting bone. Mine didnt. Perhaps the nurse went a little too deep?
