Does HPV affect everyone differently?

My boyfriend's ex-girlfriend had to undergo the LEEP procedure about 3 months ago. Does that mean, assuming I have contracted HPV from him, that the virus will effect my body the same way? At the time we had sex again, I had only had 2 of my 3 gardasil shots. I got the impression from my gyno that HPV does not effect everyone the same way. So, if I have the same strain as her, does that mean it may go away on its own in me even though she had to have surgery?

If he gave it to her, you would be infected with the same virus, and the chances are greater that you would have similar symptoms, but your immune system will probably fight it differently than hers so you may not develop her symptoms. Make sure you see your gyno regularly

HPV affects everyone in a diffrent way you may differ from her or even get a diffrent type of it. sometimes time is the only thing that can tell

Our body builds immunity to our shared HPV type or types. You probably do share your boyfriends HPV types but your immune system may be stronger or work more efficiently at keeping the virus from producing abnormal cell changes.

You may show no signs or many years down the road you could. Keep annual appointments with your health care provider so that you can know if HPV is creating abnormal cell changes.

Our Pap looks for cervical abnormal cell changes that HPV can cause but the HPV test confirms high risk HPV. A Pap can miss abnormal cell changes both tests provides better knowledge.

Remember the HPV works best if you have never engaged in sex before getting the vaccine. The vaccine only prevents two high risk HPV types 16 & 18 and two low risk HPV types 6 & 11. They are over 30 HPV types that affect the genital area.

I wish you well.
