I was diagnosed with high risk hpv. can anyone help me? and i'm also scared, please help!?

i'm 21 years old. i had the biopsy done, i was painful enought but they said i have to get more done. what now. what if it gets to cancer? i want to have kids but i'm scared that it can harm them or me. i'm lost and scared, i dont know what to do. some one please let me know whats goin on, please!

Please stop panicking. I also have been diagnosed with high risk HPV. I will tell you what my doctor told me:

There is absolutely no reason you cannot have children. My doctor asked that I'm honest with the person that I plan to have children with, because he will inevitably be exposed to the virus and any future partners he has will be at risk.

Remember, this is just ONE risk factor for cancer. There is still family history and lifestyle to take into account. Also, there is no SCIENTIFIC link between HPV and cancer. There is a statistical link, but nothing scientific.

The reason you're terrified? Because you've seen commercials on TV. And why are there commercials on TV? Because the pharmaceutical company who makes the HPV vaccine is successfully scaring women so they can SELL MORE VACCINES.

I hope this helps.

Follow through on treatments if indicated. Don't stress over this, just take care of this as you would take care of difficult hurdles in life as they come up. Sorry you are so young and have been infected but wishing you lots of luck and take care of yourself.

It's not cancer, it's been found before it caused any cancer, and it can be cured (meaning no effect on fertility or future children). It's a good thing it was found, and it's good that you were checked for it.

Understanding Cell Changes can help you understand more about the cervical cell changes that occur with an HPV infection.

Having high risk HPV types do not mean that your infection will progress to a cancer.

Having high risk HPV types should not interfere with your ability to have children. There is a small risk that HPV may be transmitted from mother to child. Your doctor will help you understand this small risk more when you become pregnant.

Most people do build a natural immunity to their acquired HPV types in a couple of years...sadly some women don't.

Living a health life style may help you fight your HPV infection, get plenty of good sleep, exercise eat your greens and a good multivitamin can鈥檛 hurt鈥?also constant use of condoms even in a committed relationship until two clear Paps. Condoms do help in the regression of the virus.

I wish you well.
