Can I be cleared if HPV but still have irregular cells? |
about a month ago I got called by my doctor and was told I had a high grade lesion caused by HPV and that I would have HPV forever. Then my doctor sent me to a gynocologist and he did a biopsy and told me I have moderate cervical dysplasia that was more than likely caused by HPV, but I DO NOT have the virus now. Next week I am getting the cells removed through cryo. Now I am reading all these mixed things about HPV and the possible cause of oral cancer. I am super confused....this whole thing has stressed me beyond anything ever..I have lost ten pounds over this in a month. I just dont understand it... There is no cure for HPV. Sometimes it stays in you forever, sometimes you can clear it- the outcome depends on both the strain you have and your response to it. If your biopsy showed that you don't have it now, I wouldn't worry too much. Just have the dysplastic cells removed and follow any other advice your doctor gives you. They are now saying HPV can be cleared on it's own as the body's immune system rids itself of it over a course of about 2 years. But that doesn't mean you can't be re-infected by another partner or if your current partner isn't clear yet then the whole process can start over again. Some people are said to have low immune systems so the virus can lay dormant for years but can still be passed. Just depends on what type you have too. There are over 100 different strains of the virus. I know that with all of the information flying about HPV that getting to the truth can be confusing. Bad info can be dangerous, if for no other reason than for the unnecessary panic and distress it can cause. Source(s):Cited above. i have had hpv for 10 yrs i get paps every 3- 6 mo and once a yr i get some kind of treatment for abnormal cells its very common and very treatable not curable just dont stress 1 in 3 have it so outta 6 girls u know 2 have it just make it a habit to go once a yr to the dr unless they ask u 2 come more often check STDromance.com for more info I am not sure what your doctors is saying when he says you do not have HPV now. |
