What to expect with HPV?

Hi I have HPV and the doc called me up telling me to come back bc they found mild abnormality in the pap smwear. when i went bak she did a colposcopy and biopsy. then called again telling me to come back in 2 months for another pap to monitor . i am really scared and nervous. I dont know what is going to happen next. Has anyone out there gone through this??? I could really use some input.

Many times, the body handles the infection itself. So in 2 months your dr. is probably hoping that it will be gone.

The colposcopy let's the dr see the cells of your cervix. After the sample (from the biopsy) has been read, you may have additional work done. It all depends on the diagnosis. I had to have a LEEP, which is where they cut out the bad cells (I think it was with a laser). It didn't hurt, but I did spot for several days.

I've been ok ever since.

HPV can be associated with cervical cancer, but not all infections get bad. So, don't worry too much, because even if the news isn't too good, there are treatments for it.

i'm sorry that this will be no help to you as i have never gone throught this but just stay strong and try not to stress ntill you know everything. just keep people around for moral support!! i'm so sorry to hear about that!!
