Can the same HPV go latent and then return?

When I found out I got HPV from my, now, husband, it was only 5 months after losing my virginity to him. So in only 5 months the HPV had turned most of my cervix into abnormal cells likely to turn cancerous. Me and my hubby decided to have a baby just in case we wouldn't have the chance later. During my pregnancy by 3 months I was a negative of any HPV or abnormal cells from my pap results!!

Well, my little boy is now one and my problems are returning. I have been on my period for 6 weeks now and my last period was 3 weeks. My doc thought it was my thyroid, but its not and wants a pap asap. Could my HPV have returned but was just dormant through my pregnancy??

Why would everything go back to normal when it was bad in the first place and why go bad again after it was all cleared up? I don't get it. Me and my husband are completely monogomous, so its not a different infection of HPV. Could my HPV have just hidden during pregnancy and then now reappear?

I never had warts just abnormal cervical cells class CIN2. But all the doctors I see and the sites out there say that it can just dissapear. Well can it just reappear like cold sores?

Yes, like the person before said. HPV is a virus and will always be in your system. It can come about at any time. Although my doctor said that staying healty and avoiding things like smoking and such may make it less likely to come about again. I was diagnosed 2 years ago. My paps are normal now and I havn't had any problems yet. Good luck!

HPV is a virus, so it will always be in your system, and you cannot get rid of it. It will recur every once in a while, and you'll have to get treatment for the warts (external and/or internal) each time. If you don't get treatment, it could potentially give you cervical cancer.
