HPV and HERBIE'S?......?

what is the difference between the two.. is one treatable and the other not.. i mean can one be treated to wear it gose away

lol yes i meant herpes

HPV is an extremely common virus with over 100 forms (including both non STD and STD warts.) It is estimated that 80% of women will have it at least once in their lives. It almost never has symptoms and it almost always goes away on its own. It is the only viral STD that can clear the body, but it doesn't always. If it doesn't go away on its own, there is nothing to do to make it go away. If it were to cause symptoms, it would cause warts or cervical dysplasia. These can be treated but not healed.

Herpes definitely never goes away, but there are antiviral medications to lessen it. It often doesn't cause symptoms (90% of people who have it don't know they have it.) When it does cause symptoms, they are sores, itching, burning, redness, etc. The initial outbreak can also cause flu-like symptoms.

I presume you mean Herpes?

if so -- then HPV is Human Papilloma Virus and Herpes refers to Herpes Simplex.

They are different things and both are incurable.

HPV basically causes warts. A large proportion of the population is reckoned to have HPV as for many they will not necessarily have any visible warts. The problem is that HPV has been related to cancer of the cervix. The younger you contract it the higher your potential risk of developing cancer later on.

Herpes is an incurable virus. One form causes cold sores. Another form causes genital herpes. They are highly infectious during the blister phase and for a period thereafter. They are unpleasant and sore, especially during the weepy blister phase. Whilst there is an antiviral treatment that can subdue the problem it is never actually cured.

Genital herpes and HPV are both sexually transmitted. This is why it is always wise to use a condom for sex until you are sure (through testing) that a proposed long-term partner is free of all possible infections via having a test done at a GUM clinic.

Um - do you mean Herpes? HPV is genital warts which can be treated and lasered off. Genital herpes is a viral condition which usually (but not always) shows itself as painful ulcerations in the genital region. The attack can be shortened with anti-viral drugs. Some people may suffer frequent attacks, others infrequent and some only an initial one, though you are still a carrier and thus should protect future sexual partners with a barrier method of contraception.

Ok - many people can get these two confused. I have worked in a hospital for 6 years (5 years with the military; 9 months as an STD class instructor). HPV is called the Human Papilloma Virus. There are hundreds of different strands of HPV, but only a select few will actually give you warts. There are others that will increase your risk of cervical cancer. Herpes is a type of warts. HPV can LEAD to herpes, but it doesn't mean that you will get them. HPV is a virus, of course, so it can't be cured. Herpes is also a virus, thus uncurable. The only thing you can do if you have either of these is treatment so you can reduce the number of outbreaks you experience. An outbreak is nothing more than a 1-4 week period of having warts on the affected part(s).
Lastly, HPV nor Herpes is not fatal. HPV can lead to cervical cancer which is fatal.

Herpes and Genital warts (HPV) are two completely different viruses. Herpes is also called HSV-1 or HSV-2. (The 1 and 2 are just the strains. Herpes are ulcerations in the genital or mouth area. It's very painful, but its treatable. You can't get rid of it because what happens is you have an outbreak, and then as it heals, the virus travels back up the nerve and heads into your spinal fluid (your immune system is very weak in the spinal fluid so it can go dormant here and be unnoticed) If you take the recommended drug, you should be pretty clear of outbreaks. If not, you will continue to have outbreaks.

About HPV. HPV causes genital warts. The good news about HPV is that most people are able to fight the virus off within a few years. Most people don't even notice them actually. However, im sure we've all seen the gross health ed pictures with the cauliflower warts. The other problem HPV causes for women is cervical cancer, there are about 16 strains that cause it. But that's why we get our PAPs, to detect any abnormalities.

Anyways, either way, HPV is NOT the same thing as HSV as previously said by a "sex ed" teacher.
