Can a M-F post-op Transgender have or get HPV? |
I just recently tested positive for HPV & cervical cancer? My partner is M-F transgendered post-op. I am confused as to where I got this. "Approximately 20 million people are currently infected with HPV. At least 50 percent of sexually active men and women acquire genital HPV infection at some point in their lives. By age 50, at least 80 percent of women will have acquired genital HPV infection. About 6.2 million Americans get a new genital HPV infection each year." Men can get the virus. I've read that gay men want the gardasil vaccine, which was initially touted as just for women. yep. HPV isn't cervical cancer(which means it's not a virus only women get). It can LEAD to cervical cancer if the warts, which is what HPV causes, lead to cancer. You can get genital warts, anal warts, cervical warts, pretty much any area where you can have sexual contact and it can be spread sexually. HPV is very easy to get. All it requires is skin to skin contact. Regardless of the gender identity or orientation of the partners. I'm sorry that you tested positive. |
