Can a M-F post-op Transgender have or get HPV?

I just recently tested positive for HPV & cervical cancer? My partner is M-F transgendered post-op. I am confused as to where I got this.

"Approximately 20 million people are currently infected with HPV. At least 50 percent of sexually active men and women acquire genital HPV infection at some point in their lives. By age 50, at least 80 percent of women will have acquired genital HPV infection. About 6.2 million Americans get a new genital HPV infection each year."

Most HPV infections clear up on their own, and are not a strain of the virus that might be pre-cancerous, and condom use only reduces the risk of transmission, its pretty infectious.

I'd have thought "girl on girl" activity would be low risk but not "no risk". And I doubt whether the infection would survive male to female genital surgery ? So have you both been monogamous .... no past relationships .... your girl partner with guys after her op and before meeting you ?

Seems like you're low risk and plain unlucky. Really hope your early treatment clears everything up ....

Men can get the virus. I've read that gay men want the gardasil vaccine, which was initially touted as just for women.
Based on that, I think a transgendered person would also be able to get HPV.

yep. HPV isn't cervical cancer(which means it's not a virus only women get). It can LEAD to cervical cancer if the warts, which is what HPV causes, lead to cancer. You can get genital warts, anal warts, cervical warts, pretty much any area where you can have sexual contact and it can be spread sexually.

There's also many strains of HPV. Many of them only have one major outbreak, if EVER. A lot of people can go for years never knowing they have the virus. But you can still spread it to others.

Men can get HPV through oral and or anal sex.

HPV is very easy to get. All it requires is skin to skin contact. Regardless of the gender identity or orientation of the partners.

I'm sorry that you tested positive.

Hopefully the treatment to cure the infection will work and nothing more will come of this.

Cancer of the cervix will not be possible for your partner as she does not have a cervix. Other related effects, such as warts around the vagina, are quite possible.
