How easy is it to transmit HPV?

I know a lot about it but one thing the websites don't seem to list is how easily it is transmitted and what circumstances have to be present to transmit it. One site will say that it can be transmitted by men by the touching the scrotum to the genitals, but is that only if you have a breakout of condyloma?? This kinda throws using a condom out the window if it's true. Can you pass it if you use a condom and don't have any breakout??

Also, oral sex..... If you're performing it as the one with HPV, can you pass HPV if you don't have any breakouts in your mouth? does it pass by saliva?

Hi spreading hpv sexaully is sooo damn easy it's not funny,so I have some links below to websites that will answer your question totally Cheers 鈾?br>

HPV is not only an STD. It can be passed on by anybody with a wart (it is a virus that causes warts) especially if there is drainage and broken skin.
It is now advisable for gay men to have rectal PAP smears because of the cancer risk posed by HPV. There was even an article about a week ago about testing the pharynx (throat) for HPV due to the increase in oral sex among certain populations.

Articles that I have read state about a 65 to 85% transmission risk with first intercourse with a person that has an active virus. If you have visible genital warts then you are most likely going to transmit the virus to your sex partner.

The virus sheds virus particles these virus particles find entry point into a micro-abrasion, a micro-trauma to the skin is easy during sex or sex play...just the frictions of hands or genitals cause these small little entry points. Hand to genital transmission does occur.

You can transmit the virus even with the use of a condoms...you are less likely to transmit but it doesn't give you any guarantees. You could have transmitted the virus before you don a condom and there is lots of contact with the base of the penis and the vulva. You can carry the virus in places that do not have a wart.

Condoms do provide protection to other STI's, condoms do help in the regression of the virus and condoms do provide some protection...just no 100% guarantee.

You would not transmit your virus during oral sex....but go to the dentist for an oral screening....who knows you could have also acquired the virus in the oral cavity from the partner who shared the infection with you.

Many people carry the virus with no visual signs and no symptoms.

There is lots of new information on oral sex and oral cancers due to HPV. A news search will give you lots of information and www.oralcancerfoundation.org is a great resource.

Please tell you partner regarding your infection/STD. About 50% of the populations does carry the infection but don't assume that your partner know about the virus.

There is no cure for the virus; treatments are geared to remove the overgrowth of cell or tissue. Most people do build immunity to there acquire HPV type. You can't acquire the same HPV type again but many people have there virus reactive years down the road...other acquire new HPV types. They are 30+ HPV types that affect the genital area. After your body builds its natural immunity to its virus types then you are less likely to transmit the virus...but again you don't get any guarantee that you will not transmit the virus years down the road from your initial infection. The virus can come and go if the immune system is weakened or with certain meds such a prednisone.

Lots of gray areas with HPV information.

I wish you well.

It can be transmitted relatively easily (as in one time would be enough). Also, because it is transferred by skin-to-skin contact, it is also possible for you to transmit (or contract) it even if you are using a condom.

You're best bet is to not have sex with multiple sex partners and wear a condom each and every time because there are lots of other diseases out there.

As for oral sex, genital warts do not show up in the oral area. Genital warts are a different strain of virus.

It can contracted just by touching. It is a very common STD. Many people have it and do not even know it. There are different types of HPV. Some types lead to cervical cancer, some lead to genital warts and some people are asymptomatic. I was diagnosed with HPV in 1998. There was very little into back then. I was so scared! I have NEVER had any genital warts. I have always been asymptomatic. I started going to a new gyno/ob when I was pregnant with my son 3 years ago. I brought it up to him that I had been diagnosed with HPV in 1998. He said it has never shown up on any of my pap smears, even my last one in July 2007. He says I don't have it anymore and sometimes it just goes away. But back in 1998, they told me it was incurable.
