To women w/ history of HPV, conception after LEEP?

Hello,

To those of you who didn't have children before you had the LEEP procedure; did you have a difficult time conceiving?

I ask because I have had the LEEP twice and when I asked the doctor if I could still have children (logical question since they shaved of parts of my cervix), she said that it might be more difficult to get pregnant because of scar tissue.

My husband and I have been "not trying not to" get pregnant, but in six months of not using any form of birth control, we haven't conceived. We are not actively timing things, or doing anything to ensure pregnancy either.

It's just, you hear so much about accidental pregnancy, yet I have never been pregnant. Do I blame the LEEP?

Please share your experience.

Love for All, this has nothing to do with my tubes. Just the cancer on my cervix.

Oh, and I have a normal period.

I guess I'm just annoyed because my sister has three kids and every single one of them was accidental (due to failed birth control). Here I am on NO birth control and I've got nuthin'! Maybe I should have my husbands sperm checked. I'd probably have to shoot a tranquilizer dart into his neck to get him to go masturbate in the doctors office, though....

I have had 2 Leep procedures. And I conceived, and gave birth to a healthy baby boy afterwords. The only thing the docs might be worried about is that your cervix would be too weak to hold the baby, in which case they will just stitch it closed and you should be fine. They didn't have to do that in my case, everything went smoothly, but they did check me more often than most because of it. I think you will be fine. It takes most couples at least a year to become pregnant even when there are no fertility issues, and they are timing everything perfectly. Some women are just super lucky. I was not one of them, but it still happened. Give it time, and GOOD LUCK!

I have had the "scraping" dont once and havent had a sign of it since and have not ever been pregnant either. I didnt even think of that being a possibility why. My husband and I just started trying with no results yet. My doctor told me it shouldnt effect anything especially if everything else looks fine.

go and get your tubes unblocked if you need to and also check and see if the scarring is keeping you from conceiving. Many times you will find out that if you just get that taken care of the egg can pass through.

I had a LEEP also and I was afraid also. I also "scarred funny". My cervix was completely scarred over and I had to have surgery to basically make me a new one.(I was having my period and it had no where to go so it was filling up my uterus) After that I was worried I wouldn't be able to get pregnant but I did!! Everything worked out and I even had a vaginal delivery.

I also had the LEEP procedure before having any children. Two years later i conceived (one year of actually TTC) before I finally conceived and gave birth to healthy baby boy. Doctors didn't even tell me nothing about it might be more difficult to get pregnant because of scar tissues. I did have to get vaginal ultrasounds very often though to make sure my cervix was still closed and able to hold the baby.I never had to get my cervix stitched everything worked out just fine. Hope my experience was somewhat helpful to you.For what it is worth don't blame the LEEP...Just keep doing what you've been doing and you will have a healthy baby very soon...GOOD LUCK!

Can't say anything about myself since I'm a guy. I do know a married couple and she had the procedure that you asked about. She had a healthy baby boy. He is now over 6' tall and lives healthy and happy in Hawaii. She also is healthy and happy in Hawaii. Hope that this helps you somehow. May I say that I wish you and your husband the best of luck.
