Gential warts without HPV?

A while back , my gynecologist diagnosed me with Genital Warts and told me it was caused by HPV. So she wrote me a prescription for Aldara cream and sent me on my way. But when my tests results came back to the gynecologist, I was negative for HPV. So how the hell do I have this ? That was about 8 months ago. The bumps are still there, and I have breakouts maybe every 2 months. I got tested again about three months ago for HPV and I was STILL negative. So, someone explain to me what's going on. If anyone has anything negative to say, I suggest you move on from my question.

Thanks everyone .

Well, I believe I had a biopsy done, that rings a bell. But I'm not sure.

And the cream seems to relieve the itching
and the symptoms disappear for a while.

So, I don't know what to think.

Thank you everyone .

well i am assuming when you say that your HPV test came back negative that you are talking about a pap smear. a pap smear can only detect cellular changes caused by hpv on the cervix. there currently is no way to detect the hpv virus in the outer tissues, you can only detect the physical changes (i.e. warts)
if you really want to make sure, ask your doctor to do a biopsy of one of the bumps, it will be sent off to pathology and it will tell for sure whether or not it is hpv. you can ask for a copy of the pathology report and if it is hpv, it will say something along the lines of
"condyloma acuminata" or "changes consistent with hpv effect"
good luck!

It might not be genital warts?

I would get a panel test for all possible std infections to be certain.

you may be getting treated for the wrong disease.
