The Gardisil HPV shot for girls...?

Honestly, how badly does it hurt?
Should I get it Im 13?
What are the symptons or side effects of it?

That is something I am debating right now. I'm still under the age allowed for the shot but for me because there is no long term studies on the shot I wont get it. I want to see what the problems are 10-20 years down the road for people who have gotten the shot. Will it cause them to have another form of cancer? Will it make them sterile? No one knows because the drug is relatively new. It may turn out to be the next best thing for women but until more research is done I won't get it.

It's not that bad. It stings for like a second. I'd rather deal with a stinging arm and a little pain then cervical cancer.

it does hurt quite a bit the injection site will get swollen and red and alot of women and girls who have gotten them would not reccomend it because alot of times they get infections
just get a yearly exam to make sure you dont get cervical cancer and you'll be fine

The vaccine is new to the market. I've heard some people have experienced just mild pain at the injection site, but I have also heard others have had more serious problems including seizures in young girls.

I'm 27, so technically I can't get the vaccine, but even so, I don't think I'd actually get this vaccine. (I'm quite conservative when it comes to sex anyway.) It only protects against some of the HPV viruses, and you still need to go for regular gynocological exams once you become sexually active... or after the age of 18... whatever comes first. My gut instinct tells me this is mainly some money-maker (First HPV vaccine on the market! Oooh! Aahhh!) for the drug company, and we'll find out it is not as affective as we originally thought.

Even if you don't have a reaction to the injection, there is a chance it may not even work anyway in some individuals.

My suggestion: Practice abstinence. (You're 13 so hopefully you aren't sexually active yet anyway.) Also, wait to see if this vaccine really is that successful in the general population.

It hurt during the injection and my arm was sore for a few days but it was still bearable. I would rather have a sore arm for a few days than have a higher risk for cancer

well i hate needles but hey if there was a shot for aids would you take it? its the same with this.. there are no side effects except for your arm being sore. it stings when they put it in.. you can get the shot when ur nine, so i would get it asap. cervical cancer hits younger girlls 18-25 and the shot protects u from 4 out of 6 signs..

it hurts like crap!!!!1 dont belive the doctor i just got one a week ago and it hurt for a week!

PLEASE DO NOT get this shot.

If I were in the age range available, I'd adamantly refuse to get this vaccine.
