Can HPV cause harm to men? |
I was wondering if HPV is harmful to men b/c all the information that I read on HPV revolves around women...So I was wonder b/c I was dignosed with it, the high risk, but my doctor said its serious but nothing to be afraid of as long as you keep going to get check ups and taking care of your self...But should I be scared for me and my boyfriend(Yes, he knows and he's fine)... You should always use protection. Your boyfriend can contract the virus, which can also cause cancer of the penis, and pass it to others. what the hell is HPV? HPV can cause cancer. For both men and women. Throat cancer, mouth cancer, cervical cancer it goes on and on. OF COURSE IT CAN -.- some hpv strands will cause genital warts..a recent study suggest that there may be a link between HPV in men and prostate cancer but that there needs to be a lot more research into it before they can make a link As long as it isn't the HPV that causes genital warts. The only thing that men have to do with HPV is as a carrier. He could possibly give it to someone else one day if say, ya'll break up. Men get HPV as well... there is just no way at the present time to test men for HPV. Usually, men have no symptoms, if they do have it and have symptoms they will have warts or some other symptom. So you can in fact, I hate to use this word, but, infect someone and not even know it yet. If it just occurred in women, it wouldn't be spread around nearly as much as it is. 3/4 people under 24 will have HPV at some point.
