HPV- please help? |
I noticed my boyfriend has a large red wart-like blotch on his buttocks, not especially near the anal area. He also has them on his arms and feet. When I asked him, he told me they were only contagious with blood contact. He's been to the doctor who told him he just needs to use standard wart freeze cream. They didn't mention anything about it being and STD and told him it's only transferred by blood contact. It could also be a staph infection. Which are very contagious. I'm pretty sure the wart-causing kind of HPV can only be on your genitals. But if he says its contagious through blood contact, it could be an STD. I would have him go get checked out for your safety. i would have to say it could very likly be hpv so make sure he goes and gets checked because this could cause some damage if left untreated so make him an appointment asap i understand your dread... have yourself checked right away. hope it's just something else and not HPV. Don't waste any time, HPV is the leading cause of cervical cancer... All warts are caused by the HPV virus; however, the high risk strains of HPV that can cause cervical Cancer generally do not cause warts. Sexually transmitted HPV may cause warts or may not. 1 in 2 people are infected with a strain of HPV so it is very common. However, you should consider getting the Gardisil vaccination which protects you from getting many of the strains that can cause cervical Cancer. HPV is transmitted through direct skin-to-skin contact. normally if it is hpv that is a std the warts are in the area of the genitals and anal. they can spread in bunches but don't usually spread to other parts of the body. they are in groups of small warts and i don't think they are red, but i could be wrong. they are highly contagious. he may need to go get checked out too . it may not be what he thinks....and needs medication to treat it so the outbreaks are less. you can have it and show no symptoms so keep going back to be checked. the health dept is prob the best place to go economically. it can be treated so don't be worried. there are different types of treatment available and medications you can take. if you go to the doc he goes to the doc. or he is cut off. ;] good luck |
