HPV and pregnancy? (maybe a little TMI, sorry)?

Okay, so in the beginning or my pregnancy, some abnormal cells were found in my birth canal, signaling the presence of the HPV virus. When I saw my results, they said I had the kind that puts me at high risk for cervical cancer.

Weeks later, I noticed some warts appearing down below, and I took care of them. They never returned.

I switched doctors during the 3rd trimester, and the doctor noticed my results from the abnormal cells, so he decided to do a colposcopy (without biopsy) to check for any abnormal cells in my birth canal. Now obviously, I could not have taken care of this like I did the warts, and I was certain something would show up. However, nothing did, no cancerous cells or anything.

How could they have just disappeared? Is it possible that I really just had the HPV that gives warts and they made a mistake? I figured that any warts in there would be revealed by a colposcopy too, but there's nothing there.

Some strains of HPV resolve themselves.
Not all strains of HPV cause warts.
Were you told that the colposcopy being performed while you were pregnant increased your chances of a miscarriage?
Also..all abnormalities in a pap do not necessarily equal cancer. Many times those cells are precancerous.

After your baby is born (Best to go with a c-section so you don't pass on HPV to the baby through the birth canal) then you will have to have quarterly paps for a year to make sure that the tests come up clean.

I had an abnormal pap (not HPV) during pregnancy and had a colposcopy performed at 4 months. My abnormal was a lab error, but I still had to go through a year of quarterlies before being given a clean bill of health.

if u have had a hpv immunisation then it is likely your body has jsut fought the virus. even if u havent had the immunisation it is still possible. ask your doctor, and explain about the warts. if u are still really worried u can request a 2nd colposcopy done. someitmes ur instincts are good. i had a normal level of hcg wen i was 3 months into my pregnancy but i was convinced it was twins so i asked for a twin blood test to be done(i dont know how they do it) and it was positive. trust your instincts

I just started my second trimester and found out two days ago that I have the HPV virus. The doctor's sending me for a colposcopy next month. She also told me that the strain I have carries the warts and the rick of cervical cancer. I have no symptoms, and I've read on Wed MD that you can carry the virus for years. So even if you have no warts, the virus is still there. It takes a couple of years to go away on its own, and the warts occur in breakouts.
