HPV -human papaloma virus?

So ive been diagnosed with high risk. Idk what that even means, how serious it really is or side effects of having it is? I dont have any of the worts or anything most girls say they have when they have HPV. my gyno said that there just inside on my cervix. sooo do any of you girls have this? help me out a little.. Does it effect me trying to concieve ?

HPV is what brings on cervical cancer, get paps & you'll be ok. You might need freezing or other procedures to remove high grade lesions ( like I did) it won't keep you from having kids unless the removal of pre cancerous cells takes too much of the cervix. Follow what your doc says & you should be fine

I've had HPV for 12 years. The first time I was treated, I was 15. Then again at 22. Recently, I was treated again. High risk means they're going to want you to come in again in six months. Or less, depending on the pap.

Even if you need the surgery (I've had LEEP 3 times), it's not that bad. It's like having really bad cramps for two days. It sucks, but you'll survive. My doctors have assured me that at the ripe old age of 27, I am still able to conceive. I haven't ever tried, so I can't test that theory, but they tell me that there is no reason why I can't that they know of. Everything looks fine. They said that (worst case scenario) there is a small chance that it might be a little more difficult to conceive because of scar tissue (sperm would have a tougher time getting through) but that it's unlikely. My husband and I are thinking about starting to try in the next two years... so you'll have to ask me again then, lol!

Do your research, educate yourself. Get the Guardasil shot if you can (I was 5 months too old to get it when it came out and they refused me). Learn everything you can about it and don't be afraid. You will be fine.

Lots of people have HPV- about 50% of people aged 20-25 have it. This doesn't mean they have genital warts- only some strains of HPV cause genital warts, and not the high risk ones. The majority of HPV infections are of the type that doesn't cause genital warts- if fact they are mostly completely symptom free. In most cases it causes no problems at all. Sometimes it can cause pre-cancerous cell changes. In the mild form, over 50% spontaneously heal themselves and in less than 1 in 100 cases will they develop into cancer (if you never get them treated). So basically, if you have high risk HPV, you are more at risk of getting cervical cancer, but the majority of people with high risk HPV will never develop cancer. Just make sure you keep having regular pap smears.

HPV is a common virus that infects the skin and mucous membranes. There are more than 100 types of HPV, and they usually don鈥檛 cause any problems. However, when they do, the most frequent result is the common wart, such as those found on the hands and feet.

Approximately 30 types of HPV are spread through genital contact. These 30 types are divided into two groups: 鈥渓ow-risk鈥?and 鈥渉igh-risk.鈥? Low-risk HPV cannot cause cervical cancer; however, it can cause genital warts or very minor cell changes on the cervix. High-risk HPV can cause abnormal cells to form on the cervix. These abnormal cell changes may gradually develop into cervical cancer if not removed.

The CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention) estimates that 70 percent of new HPV infections (including those that are 鈥渉igh-risk鈥? go away within one year, and 91 percent are gone within two years. It鈥檚 only when the high-risk types of HPV stay 鈥渁ctive鈥?for a long period of time that the risk of developing abnormal cells that can turn into cervical cancer increases significantly.

Lastly, HPV does not affect your ability to get pregnant. You can read more about the virus here: http://www.thehpvtest.com/under-30/HPV-f...

Hope this helps,
