Men only - did you know that HPV can give you cancer?

I just found out that men are getting oral cancer (like cancer of the tongue) from having oral sex with women who have the Human Papalomavirus (or HPV). I never knew that. Problem is I found out too late and now I start chemo and radiation treatments on Monday. lot's of infor for women, none for us.

My friend who is only 35 yrs old was diagnosed with throat cancer and he never even smoked or chewed tobacco. He is going through the treatments and they are having a benefit for him, because of the medical costs. He had to have reconstructive surgery on his tongue. He had about 80% of it removed and reconstructed. Now he has to learn who to talk again. I'm sorry to hear of your situation also.

it isnt just if men give women oral.
HOW DO YOU THINK WOMEN GOT IT IN THE FIRST PLACE??
cancer because of HPV for MEN is VERY RARE.
it is a very common thing now in women and its spreading which is why there is more help for women.

You are right and men who have sex with men can get it as anal cancer.

Yes i knew that, I actually though I had it because my throat swelled up, almost like tonsilitis after giving oral to a girl I later found out had cervical cancer from the hpv virus. Every docotr I went to told me I didnt have throat cnacer, even though I had all the symptoms, they refused to even do a ct scan or anything to ease my mind, Its been about 2 years and Im still alive so I guess it wasnt throat cancer, I feel healthy, although I was very concerned about this, still kinda am, but I guess it would have killed my by now if it was.

Statistics say HPV related cancers are very rare in men.
HPV types are specific to a place. About 30 types are genital. They are much more likely to give problems in genital areas and much less likely in other areas. For example "high risk" HPV types will affect cervix, because of the cervix cells composition, but they will less likely affect vagina or vulva or penis, and even less likely throat.
