A few questions about HPV? |
i am 14 weeks pregnant and just found out that i have hpv. the nurse said that there is a high risk kind and a low risk kind that causes warts. so she said i have the high risk kind and that its not a big deal and i just need a pap in a year to make sure everything is good. my b/f had some bumps down there that look alot like pimples and are itchy,,,, he went to the dr for it and they said that its not warts but they didnt really know exactly what they were (but the dr was totally sure they werent warts) ....but now ive got just a few of them.... when they test for hpv can they tell which strains you have? im postiive she said i had the high risk kind. if i would have the low risk kind they would have talked more about the warts and what not....but she didnt, she said i could possibly get cancer from it..... i just wanted to make sure that they test to see which strains you have since there are so many different kinds of hpv.... any help would be appreciated. but i just dont understand how the bumps are warts if the dr said that they werent. at first i thought it was a cyst...its like a hard ball under the skin. like when you get a pimple that hasnt broken through the skin yet. I have done a TON of research on HPV. I have seen several HPV specialists too and I feel that I should pass on what I've learned so far to keep everyone better informed. I will talk more specifically about the high risk strain which is what I have... the lil bumbs are warts, i had them and my bf did too. you shouldnt wait a year to get tested again, go back in 3 months, the high risk can sometimes cause cervixal cancer (which is why you shouldn't wait a year). in some cases your body fights the infection and gets rid of it by itself. others you need to bumbs to be removed by a laser. i have an appt in may to see if i still have an active strain, and to check my cervix for any bumbs. if the place you went to didn't give you enough info, call somewhere else and ask another dr. i went to planned parenthood and a nurse said "you have an std that can cuase cancer called hpv, come back in a year for another test" then she hung up. i called around to see what it was. i got a different dr at another clinic and they helped straghen it all out for me. good luck. keep yourself clean and dont have sex, as that can spread it. First let me tell you that the nurse is wrong! If you have the High Risk Kind, It can turn into Cancer, and it does travel fast in some people! I personal found out at age 19 that I had it and it was very bad, almost to the cancer stage! I had problems since I was 14 and after I had my first miscarriage with my husband they found out I had hpv. I had to go through a lot! You need to talk to a Dr. Not a nurse! Its not something to mess with! Waiting a year can cause you to have a lot of problems! Hey! |
