Can you catch the HPV virus if you arent sexually active?

I am not sexually active. But someone I work with is and they have HPV. Can I catch that virus even though I dont eat or drink after the person who has it. I was wash my hands religously and I never touch the toilet seats. Is the only way you can get HPV is through sexual contact?

HPV is transmitted through sexual skin-to-skin contact from an infected partner. No penetration is required to contract HPV. HPV can be transmitted through:

* vaginal intercourse
* anal intercourse
* oral sex
* touching your infected partner's genitals and then your own
* sharing sex toys with an infected person without disinfecting first
* genital-to-genital contact (same or opposite sex)

There are many forms of Human Papilloma Virus. Otherwise known as warts. All are transmitted via skin contact

Genital warts can be acquired via sexual skin-to-skin contact. These pose a risk of cervical cancer with penetrative sex.

If the person has active warts on their skin, or veruccas on their feet they can be easily transmitted via skin contact but can be easily treated by going to the chemist and getting some salicylic acid (sorry sp?) to remove them.

Genital warts can also be treated, any sex should be avoided until the person is clear to prevent transmission.

HPV is a STD...the only way of getting it is by sex (skin to skin contact) or blood to blood contact.

no you can get it in other ways. the virius lingers in moist places. its easier to get through sex because your vagina is moist. dont walk bare foot around pools becasue its prevalent there. and dont sit on the toilet

There are over 100 strains of HPV. You cannot catch the strain that causes cervical cancer without sexual contact.

No sweetie you can't get it unless you come in contact with their genitals with your genitals. You can eat, kiss, drink after someone, use the same toilet shoot you can use the same soap bar anything. I have it and have lived ith my Boyfriend for 3 yrs and he doesn't have it and we have sex without protection. Not that I am recommending that at all. So calm your head and stop acting like that person has the plague.
