Can get the HPV vaccine at 27?

I just turned 27 and I saw on the commerials for the HPV vaccine that ts recommened until 26 but Im preganat and I couldn't get it at the time. Im almost due and I want to get it.

At the moment they don't recommend recieving the vaccination on women past the age of 26, but this may very well change as further studies are conducted. I believe it has something to do with the stronger immune systems of women past the ages of 27. I have heard rumour of some places administering the vaccination on women past the age of 26, but you might have to ask around to find a spot that would be willing.

The vaccination is not recommended for pregnant women as it has not been tested enough on this particular group and I dare say you'd be hard pressed to find a physician who would be willing to administer the vaccination to you while you're pregnant. Wait and see as things may change. I'm also 27 and hoping that the vaccination will become available to us women over the age of 26 very soon!

Ask your doctor about receiving the vaccination after you deliver, things may have changed by then.

Best of luck with the rest of your pregnancy!

Yes you can. It is recommended until age 26. Get it after you have your baby, especially if you may change sex partners. I got the shot and its better to be safe than sorry :) Ask your doc at your next visit too!

i think that if you explain your situation than you could get it.

Talk to your doctor. Many will administer the vaccine in females over the age of 26. If your doctor won't talk to someone at the Planned Parenthood in your area. The Planned Parenthood in my area will vaccinate females over the age of 26.

The reason why the vaccine is recommended for females between the ages of 9 and 26 is because that was the age group it was tested on and the data the FDA received.

There are current trials for women age 27 and older being conducted now (as well as in males).

The vaccine is not recommended for females who are pregnant.

The vaccine consists of a series of three shots over six months and it costs about $120 per shot if you are paying out of pocket.
