High risk hpv and scared....?


my nurse called today and said my test showed i have several strians of high risk hpv... there sending me to an obgyn where they put some stuff in me and such... does this mean i have cancer... and not warts... what do i need to espect on whats gona happen plz help im so freaking scared

No, it doesn't mean you have cancer. High risk HPV is linked to causing cervical cancer. The best thing you can do is keep on top of your pap smears and if you notice any differences with your body, see your doctor. It doesn't mean that you won't get warts if you do not have them now. Good luck.

Most Likley its just HPV but i could be wrong

dont worry too much, many many many people have it, it is very very common. highly unlikely that you have cancer if you have been seeing a doc and getting pap smears regularly. probably just look inside and take some biopsies and wait for the results.
cervical cancer is not that common, hpv is exceedingly common

it doesnt mean you have cancer but it could develop into cancer.
