When is hpv not contagious(if ever)??? |
When is hpv not contagious(if ever)??? HPV stands for Human Papilloma Virus. There are over 100 strains of this virus, of which 30 are sexually transmissible. HPV is ALWAYS contagious; condoms offer some degree of protection [about a 50%] against getting infected by this virus. There are 2 strains {#16 and #18} that are considered "high risk"; these infect the cells of a woman's cervix [neck of the uterus] and can go from latent infection to full-blown cervical cancer in a matter of months. In men, these 2 strains usually don't cause any symptoms, but an infected man can infect all his female sexual partners. The other 2 troublesome strains are #6 and #11; these cause venereal warts in both genders within 3 weeks to 4 months of contact with an infected partner. These warts are treatable, but are more difficult to erradicate in males than in females. In some cases [like persons whose immune systems are compromised, e.g. HIV+/AIDS patients; Hepatitis B,C,D & E patients; persons who have undergone chemotherepy or radiotherapy due to cancer; organ transplant recipients; persons who suffer from autoinmune diseases; diabetics; renal dialisys patients] the warts may not respond to treatment and turn into malignant {cancerous} lesions. wats hpv? HPV is contagious at all times. there are mixed opinions as to if it is more likely to spread with an outbreak. Condoms help to reduce transmission but are not totally effective in all cases HPV is not contagious only when your vagina is not exposed to anything else that comes into contact with it! I am thinking that you want to know about the human papilloma virus. This virus can be given to anyone who gets into your vagina, or the fluid discharges and does not take care to clean up after wards. Protection is the best defense. |
