Hpv and pregnancy?

I have the hpv virus and just found out I'm pregnant. Does anyone. Know if hpv can cause miscariages I heard a rumor that it can but that was only from one person

HPV does NOT cause miscarriages.

Vertical transmission (mother to child) of genital human papillomavirus (HPV) types 6 and 11 can cause recurrent respiratory papillomatosis (RRP) in infants and children. Symptomatic mother to child transmission is infrequent and usually shows signs/symptoms within 2 years. When it occurs, it is associated with anogenital and vocal-cord lesions in the newborn. Although maternal HPV prevalence is high, HPV mother to child transmission is low, and RRP is rare.

The value of cesarean section for reducing/preventing transmission is unknown. Cesarean section is not recommended for the sole purpose of reducing transmission of HPV to the newborn. If the vagina is obstructed by warts, or if the warts are significant in number as to cause a bleeding complication with vaginal delivery, cesarean section may be warranted.

Genital warts may proliferate, reappear and become brittle/crumbly in pregnancy. You should be reassured that this growth usually regresses after delivery. In general, the practice is to defer treatment because pregnant women don't respond well to treatment (many of the common therapies for HPV cannot be used while pregnant). If treatment is desired, the following options are appropriate. (Weekly treatment may be required):
trichloracetic acid, cryotherapy, co2 laser ablation, or manual excision

the only thing i know is that theres a low probability or teh child to get the virus.. but im not sure.. u gotta find out that with ur doctor..
good luck!

HPV can transfer to foetus and cause infections in him/her and for you,as a doctor i would suggest you to get full course of antiviral therapy and get yourself counselled for cervical carcinoma by Pap smear examination as this virus is a risk factor for cervical carcinoma.

No HpV doesn't cause miscarriages. I have had HpV for 5 years. I have researched HpV like crazy. There are no studies that show HpV causes any problems during pregnancy. But you doctor will make sure you don't have visible warts before giving birth, to make sure you don't pass the disease to your child. So relax and enjoy ur pregnancy

it does not cause miscarriages, but you should have a seasection to prevent the child from contracting the virus
