If you have a papsmear and get tested ... does that include testing for HPV?


Because awhile back i broke up with my CHEATER b/f that F88Ked some other chick .. and we used condoms but i know you can still get an std and stuff... plus We did oral sex too!! and when i talk about it , i get angry but anyways this was a month ago and they said they'd call me if anyting was positive or i needed to come back .anyways does the test i took .. test for hpv??? i'm currently not having sex with anyone .. and i dont' see the cheater anymore!

they don't check for STDs unless you ask. however, if the pap comes back abnormal, it could indicate that you have HPV and they will test for it. A pap is to check for the development of abnormal cells that could indicate early signs of cancer. Since they believe HPV may result in cervical cancer, they will test you for it if your pap shows signs of abnormal cells. If you used condoms, I wouldn't worry too much, though they aren't 100%. Just continue to be safe and have your yearly check ups and you'll be fine. When you do get your next yearly check up, you may have them test for STDs if you've had any new partners within that year just to be extra safe.

If your pap is abnormal then the doctor orders HPV typing. The only time a HPV testing is included is if you have a Liquid based Pap instead of the conventional method! You can have an abnormal pap and negative HPV typing as well.

Yes that is actually what a pap test is all about....
