Why arent pregnant women supposed to get hpv shot?

acutually a few..
why arent you supposed to get the shot if you are pregnant? what does it do to you

this doesnt do with pregnancy but if you could still answer..
and the other is..well i got my second shot last wednesday and all the sudden today where i got it(which was my backside) had this weird feeling and when i touched it it felt like a bruise and it feels lke there is almost a knot in there...is this normal to feel a week later?

The HPV shot is very new, and it has probably not been tested on pregnant women. Lots of drugs - even really harmless ones - are never tested on pregnant women for obvious ethical reasons - I mean, who is going to volunteer for that? Like .... "Hi - would you mind taking this drug so we can see what it might do to your baby? Let us know how it goes! Thanks!". And if they are not tested, they are not recommended for use in pregnant women so that the company can't be sued if something goes wrong.

Sounds like you did get a muscle bruise - that happened to me when I got a shot of Gravol in my rear end one time. Hurt for a long time, I am sorry to say. Tell your doctor to be sure though. It does seem weird that you would get this all of a sudden a week after the fact.

Good luck!

you got a shot in a muscle. Muscle bruises can last up to a month after the shot is given. Sometimes it can bea bad reaction, but if you tightened up during the shot the odds are that you are just feeling the knot still. Sorry not sure one the whole prego thing. I ahve never heard anything about shots. I know that your not suppose to get tattoos, because it opens your body up for infections. sorry if this did not help.

I'm not sure, but it has to be one of two things. 1. They don't test drugs on pregnant women, so it's hard to say what the effects might be. 2. Vaccines usually contain trace amounts of whatever it is they are vaccinating against, and you certainly would not want to go injecting HPV into a pregnant woman.
