If I get the Leep procedure done, how likely is my partner to re transfer the HPV virus to me again?

I was recently diagnosed with the HPV virus. I have only been with 2 men my entire life. I am only 22 years old, and i am in a serious relationship with my current partner ( the 2nd man). I was told by my doctor that i need to get the LEEP procedure done to "cure" the pre-cancerous cells that were found in my cervix due to the HPV. I am wondering though, once i get this done, will my partner just re transfer the virus to me once i am free of it? In other words am i just not supposed to have intercourse with this person again, even though i am truly in love? If anyone has any information about whether or not we will be just doing a ping pong effect with the virus by transfering it back and forth, it will be really helpful. Thank you.

LEEP does not cure the virus. It only kills off the cells that are in danger of turning into cancer. That's what your doctor means by "curing." But even if LEEP is successful this time, you will still need follow-up exams to make sure you have no recurrences. Many people with HPV symptoms get recurrences because you cannot cure HPV. Some folks clear the virus naturally, but others will have repeated problems with it.

Your guy can't give HPV to you again if you already have or had it.

After you are recovered from LEEP, you can resume having sex. But you have to be aware that both of you have had HPV. In the even that you might break up in the distant future, you will still have to tell your future partners (assuming you might have any) that you have had HPV and you may still be contagious.

Don't feel like a freak, though. About 70 to 80% of all adults have had HPV at some point. Most do clear it naturally. Most never have symptoms. But some do, and some have complications. That's why it's important to see your gynecologist for annual check-ups.

And while I'm on the topic, even though it can't cure HPV you have now, you ought to consider getting vaccinated with Gardasil. It is three shots over 6 months. It will protect you from HPV you may encounter in the future.
