If you haven't had any HPV outbreak in over 4 years, has it cleared from your system?

I had 2 small warts that were removed with liquid nitrogen. 1 1/2 years later 1 developed and the doctor physically cut it out. There's been nothing for the past 4 years.

Has my immunity cleared it?

Thanks.

According to the Centers for Disease COntrol and quoted on this page http://www.smart2ask.org/popups/HPV.htm

""High risk" HPV infections can cause cancers. "Low risk" HPV infections can cause warts but not cancers. Remember, we are dealing with a group of about 30 different viruses. In either case, most healthy people can clear out the infection naturally in months or up to two years (Centers for Disease Control)".

If your immune system is compromised and/or you are older, it might take longer.

HPV shouldn't be confused with the Herpes virus which does cause recurring outbreaks linf long.

Your immune system usually kills the HPV virus given a few years. However, there are some types that will be with you for your life. In your case, it either got cleared away by your body, or it's come to a stage where it's so dormant that you hardly get symptoms. Either way, it looks like you're in a good situation. Just be on the lookout if there are anymore outbreaks in the future.

No...just because you get them cut off doesn't mean your immunity cleared it. Outbreaks can happenen randomly. Just because it doesn't show, you can still spread it.
