Do I really need to get the HPV vaccine!?

My mom keeps saying I have to go but I don't want to-
I'm only 13 and I'm POSITIVE I won't be having sex until after I'm 18 and when I do decide to have sex I will go and get the vaccine. - I'm starting to think she doensn't trust me or something. And I'm homescooled who the heck and I'm going to have sex with!?0-
I don't need to get and have the vaccine and I also dont' need to go to the genecologist. I've never had sex and no one in my family history have any problems w/ anything in that area-
What do you think I should do?

DON'T get it. It's still too new they don't know the long term health effects it may cause. I'm not getting it and I don't recommend it to anyone for at least another 10 years or so. Its too new still, people cannot know the long term effects.

I think you should wait to get the Vaccine. I agree with the person who was concerned about the long term effects. I am so proud of you for not considering Sex till your older. Your mom should trust you to make the right decisions. If you do find that special person I would consider researching all methods of protection and go with the most healthy.

I wanted to let you know I am going on Vacation. Thurs-Sun. Miss ya.
Take care sweetie. xx Sugar bug

Edit: AM has made a good point ,that I didn't even think about. Evaluate everyting and do what is best for your self.

If I have to agree with a mother, this would be one.

There are a million reasons to get it. God forbid, what if you are involved in a rape incidence? God forbid, what if you change your mind on having sex in spur of a moment? What if... What if...

It's a safe vaccine, and benefits are great. There are no downside risks, only upside benefits. Go for it, please.

Get the vaccine. Cervical cancer is a horrible disease. At 13 you cannot possibly know what you will do for the next 5 years, believe me, I was once 13. Polio is nearly extinct in this country (USA) but we still have our children vaccinated against it.
And yes, you do need to see a gynecologist. You are a female and any number of things can happen to you, whether you have a family history of it or not. Your mother is right, and she isn't trying to piss you off, she is trying to keep you safe. Be grateful.

my daughter is your age...I think you should have a talk w/your mom..be reasonable & let her know how you feel...tell her you wish she'd reconsider and the reasons why...so proud of you for staying pure...do that until marriage - you'll be so blessed and not carry unwanted 'baggage' into your relationship...you can also speak to your doctor & let him/her know how you feel...ask any questions you like, that's what they're there for, to answer your questions and make sure you're healthy, not just physically but emotionally as well.......

hope it works out.....you sound like a mature young lady...

hey sug....missed ya....................

just go with it,its better to be safe than sorry, and it wont hurt you doing what she asks, she only wants the best.
id see the genecologist,it wont hurt and even though your not sexually active cervical cancer can happen to anyone!
be safe,it will be embarresing at first, but atleast you know your healthy!X
