Just diagnosed with HPV and need help!?

I actually found out today that I have HPV I haven't told my mom yet she'll freak but I wouldn't keep something like this from her...I guess thats what you get for dating assholes. And I'm 18 years old.

My question really is...If I have protected sex with a man (i.e. using a condom) it will give him a low chance of gettin the HPV virus right? Or there really is no way of gettin around it?

I don't know which strand of HPV I have like low risk or high risk. I think I have the high risk one I'm not sure the nurse didn't specify but she sounded like it was a death sentence. Unbelievebly I'm not scared. I'm actually ok with it. I can lead a normal life with it and I heard in some cases it goes away by itself...so that hope will remain alive. I just want to have children when I get older naturally and have a normal life. Hopefully I will find someone who understands my situation.

But all answers are helpful. Thanks for reading.

I got HPV when I was 20. I am now 28. It took 2 years to finally go away.
High risk is on your cervix, and low risk is the actual warts.
I used Aldara (I had low risk), and it worked.
You can have kids too.
I had a beautiful baby boy 4yrs after being diagnosed, and had no complications.
My gyno told me I could have 10 babies if I wanted, even with HPV lol...I don't want 10.
CONDOMS DON'T PROTECT YOU FROM HPV. IT IS SPREAD FROM SKIN TO SKIN CONTACT.
If a man has a wart on his scrotum, you will catch it.
HPV is spread from skin to skin contact.

HPV is treatable, but I don't think it is curable. Just remember that babies who are birthed through the vaginal tract can pick up HPV.

Of course condoms help by reducing the risk, but researching everything you can about this before you start having sex again is the smart thing.

Good luck.

Well the good news is that most HPV infections are self contained and will go away in a couple of years on their own. The bad news is that as a virus, there is no cure for HPV (although if you have any visible warts, they can be treated). Make sure you remain up to date on your pap smears so your heathcare provider can monitor the situation to make sure it does not become more serious.

As for having protected sex... If you do use protection, and use it correctly, the chances that your partner would contract HPV from you are very slim. That's what condoms are for!
