HPV shot where should I get it?

I got my first hpv shot two months ago and so Im due for my second one tomorrow. The first shot hurt sooo bad it was definately the worst shot I have ever had. I cried so hard, it was pretty embarassing but im really afraid of needles so I can't help it. The nurse said that for the next one it might be easier and less painful if I took it in my bottom. Im kinda nervous about it though, im only 14 and i've never had a shot there before. Will it hurt less or is there anything to make the one in my arm hurt less? Im so scared I could barely sleep last night and I know Im not going to be able to tonight. Should I do it in my bottom? I would think that would hurt more but the nurse said it would help.

Yes, usually this is administered intramuscular in the deltoid region of upper arm; however generally speaking it's less painful to have an intramuscular injection in your bottom. It's very quick, just grin and bear it I'm afraid!
One advantage of having the injection in your bottom is that you can't see the needle! This does help, as sometimes the anticipation of having an injection and seeing the needle is worse than the actual injection itself!

wow the first one hurt you?
that is the least painful one.
the 2nd one hurts the most in my opinion.

just get the shot in the arm( the one thats not your dominate arm)

you should be fine.

get a shot in the arm...you dont want a shot in your a$$ unless, it needs to be shot down there.

I'm 16 and I still want to burst into tears when I see a needle so you're not alone. I think you should get it on your arm because if the second one does end up hurting a lot for you then it's gonna hurt like crap when you sit down. But when I got the second one I do think it hurt less than the first one.

it hurts even more in your butt. I would get it in your arm, right next to your shoulder. least painful for me.....

You're a big girl..... all of us hate needles... suck it up. It only last a few seconds. Cheap. Better than cancer, huh? Now there's needles!!!!!
