Questions about HPV shots?

i am going to get an hpv shot in about two hours and i have some questions.

where do they inject it?

anyone that has recieved an HPV shot-what symptoms did you experience?

how many shots are there?i read that there were three.

and anything else that you think i should know, please tell me.
thanks!

I just got mine done today.
They inject it in your arm.
I almost passed out from getting it. I stood up and my eyes went completely black and I couldn't see anything. I also now have a pain in my arm where they gave the shot.
There are 3. 1 is taken then another is taken 2 months later then the final one is taken 6 months after the second.
Don't stand up for 15 minutes after you get the shot. That is why I almost passed out. Make sure you stay in the office for 15 minutes in case something happens.
It stings when you get the shot quite a bit but don't worry.
Best of luck:)

The Gardasil Vaccine protects against 4 strains of Human Papillomavirus that are known to cause cervical cancer. HPV is an STD (the only one that causes cancer) that is very common amongst young, sexually people, especially on college campuses.

They will inject it into your arm, and just to give you a heads up it is kind of painful. There are three shots, but you receive them in a series. You get the first one, then wait three months for the second one, then 6 months for the third one. There are some side affects that can occur. When i got the shots I didnt expiriene anything but some of my friends felt nauseus, weak, and dizzy. The spot of injection may be a little sore for a few days following the shot.

Something else that is important to know is that although the vaccine prevents against the 4 strains of HPV that most commonly lead cause cervical cancer, there are several more that it does not protect against, so if you are sexually active or over 21, then it is still necessary to receive your annual pap smear.

Hope that helps!

It is injected into your upper arm (deltoid), just like most shots.
I've had mine and I didn't have any symptoms. However, typically symptoms may occur: soreness, redness, etc.
There is a series 3 shots, spaced out over about 6 months.
The only other thing is that please remember that this vaccine covers four strains of HPV that are most likely to cause warts and cervical cancer. YOU ARE NOT INVINCIBLE AFTER GETTING THIS SHOT! You could still get warts and cervical cancer (although less likely), from another strain of the virus. So please, be careful and still use protection regardless. And remember, many people with HPV do not know that they have it and have no signs (warts) or symptoms, so just because a guy you're gonna sleep with doesn't have warts... that doesn't mean that he doesn't have the virus and that you can't get infected and have warts. Just be careful! The shot is great and totally worth it!

The injection is given into the muscle, usually the upper arm, and it is a course of 3 injections over a 6 month period.
I havent had it so cant comment on side effects (am too old) but in the info it is the usual sore arm for a few days or mild flu like symptoms. Dont let this put you off, this injection may provide protection against cervical cancer in the future - definately worth a sore arm !!

need ask a dr
